Goodbye Xbox 360 It’s Been A Great Run
Today I did the unthinkable, I sold my Xbox 360. I sold it because I haven’t played a game longer than hmmm, I don’t know 30 minutes or so over the last few months. I blame it on my new custom gaming PC that I built in early February.
I’ve had the Xbox 360 since the summer of 2006, I have played 627 games, gained 4,049 achievements, logged 1,166 hours, racked up a gamerscore of 92,959 (minus several hundred some are from PC games) I have talked several friends to buy a system, sold countless systems when I worked in gaming retail.
My first Xbox 360 was the one with the 20 Gigabyte hard drive, I’ve had the Halo 3 limited edition, several white systems. My last one was the Slim with the 250 Gigabyte hard drive. The Slim was the best of them. Never gave me any problems. I have never once experienced the Red Ring Of Death. My only issues where discs were just unreadable, and Error 74. Usually with just the slightest issues with electronics I would not go back to that brand; but not in this case I ALWAYS stuck with Microsoft.
The longest I went without the Xbox 360 was maybe two weeks and I went crazy. I have played EVERY major title that has been released on the system over the last 7 years. Including:
- Call of Duty
- Gears of War
- Assassin’s Creed
- GTA 4
- Mass Effect
You pretty much get the idea. I can’t believe I sold it. It’s okay I have moved on to PC gaming and perhaps when the next generation Xbox releases I will pick up one. Hopefully it will be just as awesome or even better than the 360. Only one can hope right?
The reason I moved on to PC gaming is because it’s much cheaper for games because Steam, Impluse, and Amazon are always having sales on games. Today I picked up Mass Effect 3 for PC for only $29.99
I haven’t spent full price for a game in months, I guess that’s a good thing for me right? Also I don’t have to pay to play online if I choose to. I don’t play online all the time and I really don’t think having to spend $60.00 a year for Xbox LIVE is worth it to me. Having to pay to play online is just stupid (IMO) No other console charges you extra to play online.
The online service is great, I have no complaints; however it just seems like every time I would attempt to play Call of Duty online everyone seems to be hacking or cheating. Eh, I won’t get into that topic right now. So I’m just going to skip it entirely.
In conclusion Xbox 360 is one of my all time favorite systems with great games, great online play (when I played online) just great all round I just want to say …
Xbox 360 you will be missed.
