Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 Crossover Project

Capcom and Valve Announce Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 Crossover Project

Capcom and Valve are pleased to announce the Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 project. This crossover project between two of the interactive entertainment industry’s most respected publishers will see characters from Left 4 Dead 2 featured exclusively in the forthcoming PC version of Resident Evil 6, while enemies from Resident Evil 6 will invade the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2. All content will be made available completely free for fans of either game to access and play.

Owners of Resident Evil 6 PC will be able to select one of four survivors from Left 4 Dead 2’s iconic cast – Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle – when playing PC exclusive mode, The Mercenaries No Mercy. Each character will have a special customized weapon load-out created just for use in Resident Evil 6. In addition to the four survivors, two of the infamous Special Infected zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise – the Witch and Mini Tank – will also make a cameo appearance in this mode, relentlessly attacking players regardless of whether a character from Left 4 Dead 2 or Resident Evil 6 is chosen. This new and exclusive content will automatically be downloaded in the background to all owners of the PC version of Resident Evil 6 from April 5.

Making the leap to the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be some of Resident Evil 6’s most fearsome enemies – Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman. All three characters were brought to life in Left 4 Dead 2 by Valve’s renowned developers using its Steam Workshop tools. Owners of the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be able to face a new deadly challenge when Resident Evil 6 characters infect Valve’s classic zombie title this spring.

Commenting on the crossover project, Chet Faliszek from Valve stated: “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.”

Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added: “The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.”

New RE6 Costumes Are A Blast From The Past (Online Event)

This is just about the most fan servicey thing I’ve seen all week. It seems that those plucky residentevil.net network admins have begun offering a new set of costumes for you to use in Resident Evil 6. As you can see, the costumes take inspiration from the classic RE games of yore, with blocky, angular designs and traditional outfits. RPD? Man, I thought that place shut down!

Want to start obtaining these things? Well, it seems our first opportunity to get one is coming up on December 28th, when residentevil.net launches the “Zombie Mayhem” online event. The event calls for all RE6 players to join forces and kill as many zombies as possible. If we hit 15 million worldwide, all participants will be able to unlock one costume from this set.

How do you get the rest? Keep checking those online events! The site holds several events each month, and there’ll be lots more opportunities to collect these great nostalgic items.

Resident Evil 6 Multiplayer DLC Coming to Xbox 360 on December 18

The first wave of add-on content for Resident Evil 6 is coming as a timed console exclusive for Xbox 360 on December 18th. This content consists of three new multiplayer modes—Predator, Survivors and Onslaught—each of which will be priced at 320 Microsoft Points, or as a value bundle for 720 MSP.

Predator - Available for two to six players, in Predator one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players. The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Onslaught - Onslaught sees two players go head-to-head in an attempt to clear waves of oncoming enemies. Chaining combos provides the key to success in Onslaught as this will send enemies over to the opponent’s screen, the more that are sent over, the quicker the victory will be.

Survivors - Survivors takes the classic solo and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down one human character to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins. Survivors can be played by two to six players.
